THEY ARE NOW TOGETHER A COMPLETE FAMILY KEVIN, WENDY, ALEEZA, & OLIVIA |
![]() |
Kevin and Olivia arrvied in Chicago last night about 8pm. My mom, dad, Aleeza, and I drove up to get them and we got home about midnight. There were lots of hugs and tears. Our friend, Marci, let us borrow her van so we could all ride comfortably and the girls had a great time in the back playing. Olivia was up at 6:30 am this morning!! I told
her that I had to go to work and when I got home, she had re-organized
hers and Aleeza's dresser that they are temporarily sharing and she
was cleaning their room! Kevin made a nice dinner and Olivia wanted to
help me wash dishes....she told me she loved doing dishes!! The girls had a great day together and are ending it by watching a new Tom and Jerry movie in Russian that Kevin bought in Kyiv. Actually Olivia has fallen asleep on the floor in front of the tv. It is soooo good to have our family complete. Today seemed very normal and it's nice to have all the adoption "stuff" behind us. We are having an Open House at my parent's home on July 17th, so please mark your calendars!! We'll be getting invitations out, but it will be from 1-5. I'm taking the girls swimming tomorrow...it's been very hot here!!! Love and prayers to all of you, |
This Web site
is about the journey that our family is taking to reunite two sisters.
When we started this journey, we always felt that our daughter was waiting for us in Ukraine. After 12 months of paperwork, waiting, and prayers, we met our daughter, Elizabeth “Aleeza” on November 10, 2004. She is 8 years old, has beautiful blue eyes, and beautiful brown hair. The unique aspect about adopting from Ukraine was that Aleeza had to agree to be our daughter!!! While in Ukraine, we discovered that Aleeza had a 13-year-old sister, named Olga, pronounced “Olya”, who had been in an orphanage for 9 years. Olga became deaf at the age of 4 from taking an antibiotic for an illness. Olga has been in the orphanage for deaf children ever since. She and Aleeza lived 3 hours away from each other, and had only met once. We had to travel to Olga’s orphanage so Olga could give us permission to adopt Aleeza!!! Olga was not available for adoption while we were in Ukraine. However, now she is available for adoption and wants to come to America to join our family. When orphans turn 16 in Ukraine, they are put out on the street. We could not bear the thought of Aleeza’s sister having no family, nowhere to go, no means to support herself. When we met Olga at the orphanage, she had a beautiful smile on her face. We were told that she was crying before we got there because she was afraid that she would never see her sister again. Little did she know that we would fall in love with her at that moment!! Olga loves to dance, is very artistic, and enjoys knitting. When we asked her what color she wanted her bedroom to be, she was shocked!! She didn’t know what to say!! It cost us $23,000 to adopt Aleeza, and we are trying to raise the same amount to adopt Olga. We mortgaged everything we could on our house in order to pay for Aleeza’s adoption. We are holding various fundraiser's in order to obtain the money to go back and adopt Olga as soon as possible. We have established the Ola Hite Adoption Fund at Lake City Bank in Goshen, Indiana. Please join us in helping reunite two beautiful sisters. If you can’t provide financial support, please pray for us. We greatly appreciate your time and may God bless you.
